"In the time it took for him to eat breakfast at a popular Fairhope eatery on Saturday morning, two different women he didn't know approached Simon Flarity, who was wearing a "Team Tito" shirt and camouflage pants.
"We're praying for Tito's safe return," one said to him. "Thank you for your service."
Simon has become one of the most recognizable faces in Baldwin County, but he wishes it weren't so. His beloved dog, Tito, has been missing since July 4, and his "Finding Tito" Facebook page has more than 11,000 followers."...
With help from his family, friends and volunteers, some 200 signs and 3,000 flyers have been distributed from Foley to Fairhope in hopes of finding Tito, the service dog who has been with Simon for 10 years. Drones and bloodhounds have assisted in the search, but without any luck. It's as if Tito has just disappeared.
But Simon insists he will never give up. "I have so much hope," he said. "I think Tito is still out there."
The days have run together in the nearly four weeks since he lost Tito. Every minute is spent in pursuit of the missing dog.
The former Marine, who has been studying biology at Coastal Alabama Community College (formerly Faulkner State) with plans to eventually work in conservation law enforcement, is transferring to the University of South Alabama in the fall. But he's considering postponing his studies because he doesn't think he can handle going to such a large campus without Tito by his side."...
